River Plaza Courtyard Proposal405 North Wabash Chicago, IL
Reimagining of entry driveway and plaza of late modern residential tower.
Scope of Services
This proposal was created for a condominium tower which wished to update their entry plaza as well as to change traffic patterns which currently involved pedestrians using the driveway which they wished to discourage. Alexander & Associates analyzed the site and proposed two schemes. The first was a more intensive proposal which added a new retail building with an interior pathway and stairs to steer pedestrians through the interior of the building rather than down the driveway as well as increasing the street presence and adding additional revenue streams for the assocation. The second proposal was less intensive and added new plaza surfaces and enclosed stairs as well as new streetscaping. At the plaza level new, movable and temporary retail such as a cafe were added to increase the attractiveness of the plaza as well as drawing pedestrians on this route.
